
Sergio Sparviero
Sergio Sparviero is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Communication Studies (Fachbereich Kommunikationswissenschaft), of Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, in Austria. He holds a Ph.D. in communication from Dublin City University, a MA in development studies from University College Dublin, and a degree in economics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Before his doctoral training, he worked for three years for the department managing the IT infrastructure of a large computer manufacturer. He teaches courses in media economics, Hollywood economics, media innovations and creative industries. While working as a lecturer and a postdoctoral researcher, he also acquired an extensive knowledge in writing research proposals for the establishment of new educational programs. His research interests include alternative economic theories, media innovation, media ethics, the effects of the digitization of media content and distribution of various media industries, including audiovisual media, music, and news. He is a member of the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) and of the European Communication and Research Education Association (ECREA).
