
Jonathan Price
Jonathan Price is a cultural analyst, lecturer and consultant based in Huddersfield (UK), specialising in evaluation, research, funding and strategy for the arts and creative industries. A respected cultural expert at European level, he was lead author for an EENCA study to inform the Preparatory Action on music in Europe 2018-2020 and a contributor to the network’s recent impact assessment for Creative Europe. Price also has substantial experience of funding assessments for European Commission programmes such as Creative Europe and Horizon 2020, including work as a Quality Expert and Lead Expert. At national level, he has been an external funding assessor for Creative Scotland (2017-18) and a guest advisor for British Council briefings on European programmes. He has operated cultural funding programmes at local and regional level as well as managing and fundraising for projects, festivals and cultural regeneration programmes in local authority roles (1998-2012). As an academic, Price is currently Lecturer in Creativity and Enterprise for the University of Leeds, teaching cultural management and leadership at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has published and lectured on issues around cultural policy, social justice and participation in the arts for various institutions in the UK and Europe. His PhD on the discourse of cultural leadership was shortlisted for the international ENCATC Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management in 2016. Overall, Price has worked for more than 25 years in the cultural sector, including roles in music promotion and development, theatre, journalism, youth and community engagement, national/international funding programmes and higher education/research.
