
Anne Marit Waade
Anne Marit Waade is Associate Professor at School of Culture and Communication, Aarhus University. She holds a MA in Aesthetics and Culture/Dramaturgy and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Studies at Aarhus University. She has a background in interdisciplinary humanities, and she has contributed to media study by developing media geographical approaches, mediated tourism and media specific approaches to marketing and consumption. Her research interests include mediated places, media aesthetics, creative industry, promotional culture and culture policy, e.g. how location is used in TV series production, film tourism, place branding, landscapes and cartographic aesthetics in travel series and travel journalism. More recently she has been focusing on international television industry, Nordic Noir and Danish television drama series as brands and trans-national culture, location studies as a specific production study approach, as well as theoretical and methodological approaches to media-tourism as cross-disciplinary collaboration and experience economy. She has published articles and books within the field, she has been involved in several large scale national funded research projects, she is supervising PhD students researching digital economy, digital visual culture and design, as well as organising PhD courses within culture studies, visual methods and mobile communication. Furthermore, she is the leader of the research project What Makes Danish TV Drama Travel?
